Research Spotlight - Walter Chazin
CSB Researcher Walter Chazin, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Fellow Aaron Ehlinger, Ph.D., and colleagues have shown that an ancient primase polymerase – PrimPol – helps replicate DNA from cell to cell where there is damage to DNA.
The study, published in Nature Communications, demonstrate that PrimPol is recruited to reprime DNA synthesis through its interaction with the essential single-stranded DNA binding Replication Protein A (RPA). The findings provide significant molecular insights into PrimPol’s role in restarting stalled replication forks.
